About the role

Woodward is seeking a Coil Winder to operate basic machines and perform deburring or light assembly in an industrial setting. This position reports to the manufacturing supervisor and works under close supervision with limited decision-making and external contact.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate project status, updates, and specific instructions to others.
  • Review item status in MRP and ensure items are logged/closed out based on current status.
  • Document non-conformance and dispositions using non-conformance forms.
  • Clean and maintain measuring instruments and test equipment.
  • Inspect and test parts (e.g., routed and deburring operations) per applicable work instructions.
  • Follow all departmental safety rules and wear appropriate safety gear.
  • Complete and review product paperwork, ensuring accuracy and timely computer entries.
  • Verify calibration of equipment and expiration dates.
  • Measure specific dimensions according to work instructions and record applicable data.
  • Perform curing processes and inspect parts according to visual requirements.
  • Apply hot dip or touch-up methods for stacks and return paths as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Level I: No related work experience required. Must be able to see details (e.g., letters, numbers, codes) clearly for safe task completion. May require passing Near Vision and/or Color Vision examinations.
  • Level II: 1-2 years of related experience. Must be proficient in at least three of the following tasks:
    • Winding and ball fusing.
    • Preparing wires and cables for solder and encapsulation.
    • Performing post-encapsulation processes (finishing, epoxy sealing, potting).
    • Identifying, electrical testing (hi-potential, resistance measurement, polarity testing).
    • Setting up and operating transfer molding presses for coil and cable molding.
  • Moderate physical activity requiring agility and dexterity, including walking, standing, bending, and lifting or moving objects.
  • Work is performed in an area with moderate risk, requiring special safety precautions such as protective clothing or gear.
  • This position requires use of information subject to ITAR and/or EAR. Applicants must be U.S. Persons (citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) or eligible for required authorizations.
