About the role
Bancroft is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cognitive Rehabilitation Specialist to join our Adult Day Program serving individuals with traumatic and acquired brain injuries in Toms River, New Jersey.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement group cognitive remediation programs for individuals with brain injuries in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team (IDT).
- Deliver cognitive rehabilitation services in accordance with the Individual Program Plan (IPP), HIPAA requirements, DDD regulations, and Bancroft policies and procedures.
- Provide direct and consultative cognitive remediation treatment services to persons served in both day and residential settings.
- Assist in developing individualized cognitive rehabilitation goals, treatment plans, and measurable objectives.
- Plan and facilitate individual and group cognitive remediation sessions based on each person's unique needs and abilities.
- Schedule and coordinate the frequency and duration of treatment sessions according to individual rehabilitation needs.
- Recommend cognitive remediation techniques, materials, and accommodations that enhance cognitive functioning and treatment carryover.
- Identify barriers to progress and collaborate with team members to implement strategies that support successful outcomes.
- Train and educate persons served and staff on cognitive remediation techniques and the proper use of adaptive equipment and devices.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and professional documentation, including progress notes, treatment summaries, session records, and other required reports.
- Monitor and document individual progress toward treatment goals and communicate recommendations to the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide training and consultation to staff regarding the implementation and monitoring of cognitive rehabilitation treatment plans.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality, person-centered care.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field required.
- Prior experience working with neurologically-impaired individuals preferred.
- Must meet the certification criteria as defined by the Society for Cognitive Rehabilitation and receive ACBIS certification within 1 year of hire.
