About the role
The Coding Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely assignment and review of professional coding related to ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for a multi-specialty group.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency
- Certified Professional Coding Designation (CPC) or equivalent certification required
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines
- Medical terminology; anatomy and physiology
- Knowledge of payor guidelines
- Demonstrated ability to use a computer with Microsoft Office knowledge
- Excellent oral/written communication skills
- Must be well organized and detail-oriented
- Current and valid driver’s license
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
- Legally authorized to work in the United States (UNLV Health does not provide employment sponsorships or sponsorship transfers)
Physical Requirements
- May include standing, sitting, and/or walking for extended periods
- May include performing repetitive tasks
- May include lifting up to 25 pounds
