Job Responsibilities

  • Review, code, data enter and interpret patient data accurately and completely.
  • Ensure accurate information is submitted for billing.
  • Obtain accurate and complete patient data through review of medical records, discharge summaries, history and physicals, consultations, progress notes, and lab, radiology, operative and pathology reports.
  • Maintain competence and up-to-date knowledge of healthcare compliance requirements, practices, trends, coding rules and standards.
  • Maintain professional affiliations and credentials as appropriate.
  • Support compliance and principles of responsibility by maintaining confidentiality, protecting organizational assets, acting with integrity, reporting fraud and abuse, and complying with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum: One (1) year experience with physician and/or medical billing/coding office operations.
  • PREFERRED: Two (2) years experience with physician and/or medical billing coding office operations.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Coder (CPC-A, CPC, CCS-P, OR RHIT)
