About the role

The Village of Lincolnwood seeks a Code Enforcement Officer who will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and quality of life in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site inspections for zoning or property maintenance code compliance based on complaints, direct assignments, or self-initiation.
  • Document all violations in written and photographic form for use in the Administrative Hearing process as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance to residents, businesses, landlords, contractors, and property owners regarding Village codes, zoning regulations, property maintenance standards, business licensing requirements, and enforcement procedures.
  • Prepare notices of violation, legal notices, citations, correspondence, memoranda, reports, and other relevant communications.
  • Cookordination enforcement activities with Community Development, Village departments, and Legal Counsel.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • One to three years of experience in the inspection field.
  • If not already certified, obtain the ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector certification within the first 18 months of employment.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

  • Interacting with residents, contractors, and Village staff.
  • Strong professional communication skills in both verbal and written formats.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $65,369 to $88,248 annually.

Schedule

The Code Enforcement Officer is a full-time non-exempt position. The positions hours may vary depending on community needs and works a total of 35 hours per week.
