Code Compliance Officer

About the role

This position is part of a continuous recruitment process and may close at any time without notice. The examination schedule includes a written exam scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, 2026. Subsequent testing dates will be announced as necessary. Qualified candidates will be notified five business days before the exam.

Responsibilities

• Assess applicants' knowledge of applicable codes and ordinances;
• Assess understanding of construction trades;
• Assess knowledge of search and seizure laws;
• Assess skills with computers and related applicable software;
• Assess adherence to safe work practices.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent;
• Three (3) years of related construction or code compliance experience;
• An equivalent combination of education and experience;
• A valid Class "C" California Driver's License;
• POST PC832 Certification within one year;
• Certification from the International Code Council (ICC) in at least one of the following fields: Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector, Zoning Inspector, Commercial Building Inspector, Residential Building Inspector, or Certified Code Enforcement Officer (CCEO).
