About the role

Prep Cooks make the world go round. You’re responsible for organizing everything in advance and during service, to make the kitchen really hum. You strive for an efficient, well-oiled machine, and that’s exactly what the kitchen is, thanks to your prep.

Responsibilities

• Follow all company safety and sanitation policies and procedural training
• Prepare menu items according to Flanigan’s company recipe manual and plate presentation
• Ensure rotation of all products and stock products to par level to avoid kitchen disruption
• Help complete assigned prep work to stock and set up stations as necessary
• Transport items to and from kitchen and assist vendor with unloading delivery trucks
• Clean and maintain kitchen area throughout shift
• Break down and clean all stations at closing

Physical demands

• Stand/walk 100% of shift
• Reach, bend, stoop
• Lift up to 50 lbs. several times per shift; lift to high shelves, coolers, freezers
• Hold items weighing up to 5 lbs. for long periods
• Work in high-temperature, damp indoor environment and minimally outdoors

Requirements

• Ability to speak, read and write English
• Read recipes and food labels
• Read POS ticket orders
• Communicate ticket times, execute food flow from kitchen to guests, and report potential issues to Manager on duty
• Safely use kitchen machinery (Open Flame Grill, Stove, Slicer, etc.)
• Work safely with hot plates, pots, pans and sharp knives/utensils
• Assist fellow employees with dishwashing and cleaning as needed
• Complete and pass food safety certification program in compliance with Flanigan’s and Florida statutes

Schedule

• Five-day work week with two consecutive days off
• Flexible shift schedule may include nights, weekends, and/or holidays
