Location: Import Farm, Spavinaw, OK. Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview. Priority consideration will be provided to internal applicants first.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • Occasional call-ins due to equipment breakdowns
  • Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs

Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred. Applicants must have at least six consecutive months of work experience with the same employer and no additional gaps in employment greater than six months within the last 36 months. If applicant was laid-off, providing eldercare or childcare, the six-month gap will be increased to 18 months. Previous work history criteria will not apply to applicants who have been full-time students consecutively for the last 36 months.

About the role

This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings and equipment, maintaining grounds and roads, and maintaining vehicles in the farm fleet. Helps with movement of chicks from commercial hatchery to farm and with the transportation of eggs to and from commercial hatcheries. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Preventive maintenance program for all farm vehicles and farm equipment (50%)
  • Performs generator test runs each week
  • House PM’s prior to flock placements
  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to management
  • Coordinates major repairs with external vendors and drives to pick up parts and supplies
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments; repairs or replaces defective parts
  • Weekly check of propane levels and water usage
  • Monitor formaldehyde levels (20%)
  • Assist with monthly safety meetings and oversees completion of the items listed in the quarterly safety report
  • Monthly fire extinguisher/emergency lighting checks
  • Performs purchasing tasks as assigned (Creating/Receiving PO’s, processing purchases in Control Pay System, assists complex manager with Capital Construction Projects) (10%)
  • Connects electrical wiring and cables; installs lighting fixtures, outlets, switches, wall boxes, and terminal boards (10%)
  • Respirator certification is required and maintained by testing on an annual basis; must remain clean shaven during all scheduled work hours
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned at any time with or without notice (10%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare/Safety Requirements

  • Jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering and changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility (appropriate clothing and footwear provided by the Company)
  • No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.)
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must use safe lifting techniques
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift up to 100 pounds
  • May be required to occasionally move up to 2000 pounds (e.g., skids of supplies, shavings, slats)
  • Regularly push or pull up to 500 pounds
  • Regularly required to stand and walk majority of shift on multiple surfaces; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climb/ladder usage; talk or hear; stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day; drive a vehicle within the farm complex and outside
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Tools and Equipment

  • Hand tools: hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, shovel, etc.
  • Power tools: drill, sawsall, table saw, etc.
  • Equipment: cutting torch, welder, vehicle jack, tractor/loader, dump truck, skid-steer, tractor, trailer with gas-powered sprayer, pallet jack, lawn mower, weedeater, catch frames, scales, etc.
  • Safe operation of vehicle to and from work area

Environmental Conditions

  • Work on wet, slippery surfaces
  • Work in hot, dry, extreme dusty, dark, wet, icy, snowy, and cold environments

Personal Protective Equipment Required

  • Safety glasses, safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof aprons, rain suits, and company-issued footwear
  • Ear plugs and safety glasses as required
  • NIOSH-approved N95 particulate respirators as needed; respirator required for formaldehyde application
  • Fall protection harnesses required when on top of the feed truck

Chemicals Commonly Used

  • Disinfectants: Synergize, Virocid, Lysol, bleach, Clorox wipes
  • Parts cleaners, lubricants, oil, brake fluid, hand sanitizer, Green Clean, etc.

Team members are expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO, and Personal Protective Equipment. Team members are expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety-related risks.

Pay

Starting wage: $22.95 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights, and weekends.
