Cobb - Hatchery Pull Crew

Schedule

• Nights: Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
• Hours: 6:00 PM until order completion, approximately 6:00 AM (including holidays)
• Work schedule is subject to change based on production needs

Responsibilities

• Removing new chicks from hatchery baskets and loading them onto a belt (25%)
• Removing and stacking newly counted chicks from conveyor belt after being placed in chick boxes (25%)
• Transferring dirty baskets into the tray washer; removing and disinfecting clean baskets from tray washer (25%)
• Cleaning and disinfecting pull room (10%)
• Other duties as assigned, such as:
  • Operating high-pressure and regular water hoses
  • Operating box washer
  • Placing new pads into empty chick boxes for the following day
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Assisting with nightly laundry as needed

Requirements

• Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview
• At least six consecutive months of work experience with the same employer, with no employment gaps greater than six months in the last 36 months (extended to 18 months for layoffs, eldercare, or childcare)
• Previous agricultural or production experience preferred
• Full-time students for the last 36 months are exempt from the work history criteria
• Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid contact with avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.)
• Must sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Guidelines
• Must comply with all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare/Safety

• Showering and changing clothing/footwear before entering the facility (provided by the company)
• No jewelry allowed except medical ID jewelry; body piercings must be covered by clothing
• Personal protective equipment required: safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, rubber boots, ear plugs, and NIOSH-approved N95 particulate respirators as needed
• Chemicals commonly used: disinfectants such as Synergize, Lysol, bleach, etc.

Physical Demands

• Regularly remove hatcher baskets from stacks of 15 high (overhead lifting), weighing 20-25 lbs
• Regularly lift and stack chick boxes (wheeled dolly) weighing up to 12 lbs; occasionally push or pull stacks up to 125 lbs
• Regularly push/pull wheeled carts weighing 500 to 1000 lbs
• Stand and walk on concrete floors for the majority of the shift
• Use hands to handle objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climb ladders; talk or hear; drive vehicles within the farm complex
• Specific vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

• Work on wet, slippery surfaces
• Work in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy, and cold environments

Pay

Starting wage: $18.00 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights, and weekends.
