Schedule

  • Sunday through Wednesday, 6:30am–4:30pm, including holidays
  • Work schedule subject to change based upon production needs

Starting Pay

  • $17.00 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights, and weekends

Requirements

  • At least 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps greater than 6 months in the past 36 months (exceptions: layoffs or child/elder care increase gap allowance to 18 months; full-time students for the last 36 months are exempt from work history requirement)
  • Rehire waiting period of at least 180 days; no more than 3 prior terms of employment at Cobb/Tyson Foods
  • Must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview
  • Previous agricultural or production experience preferred
  • Must sign agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.)
  • Must sign and abide by Company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Pick up and deliver eggs from chicken houses to egg facility
  • Set up and test egg sanitizer prior to each egg pull; perform egg inventory practices and record egg pull inventory
  • Observe eggs moving on conveyors through sanitizers; observe shell color/texture and external characteristics such as streaks, shadings, discolorations, cracks
  • Place hatching eggs on buggies and in boxes and properly label internal/external orders
  • Operate and clean egg sanitizer; remove waste (egg shells, feathers, feces, etc.); clean and sanitize egg room, connecting areas, crates and flats, and vehicles; fumigate rooms
  • Perform preventative maintenance as needed
  • Place broken, dirty, or substandard eggs in containers for disposal
  • Monitor, control, and record proper room temperatures and humidity controls
  • Dispense formaldehyde per schedule
  • Properly euthanize weak, ill, or injured birds in accordance with company policy

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds repetitively (e.g., trays of eggs); occasionally move wheeled buggies up to 500 pounds
  • Stand majority of shift on concrete floor; walk; sit; use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach; balance; climb ladders; stoop/bend occasionally; talk or hear; drive vehicle within farm complex; enter/exit vehicle repeatedly
  • Vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold environments
  • Required PPE: safety goggles/glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, farm-issued footwear; ear plugs as needed
  • Chemicals commonly used: disinfectants such as Synergize, formaldehyde, Chlor-a-foam, Acid-a-foam, Clorox wipes, Lysol, bleach, etc.
  • Must follow safety policies including Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO, and Personal Protective Equipment; identify and mitigate safety risks
  • Biosecure environment requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering; no jewelry except medical ID jewelry and covered piercings
