About the Role
Applies gelcoat to the mold using an atomized spray gun process system.
Responsibilities
- Use and understand air assisted gelcoat equipment.
- Calibrate and apply gelcoat consistent with Cobalt quality standards.
- Read and understand work orders, then apply gelcoat on parts based on production order specifications.
- Maintain gelcoat equipment by performing periodic and routine maintenance.
- Assist in manually moving molds in and out of the gelcoat booths.
- Perform general housekeeping of area and equipment.
- Assist in changing out 55-gallon drums and 5-gallon pails of material at gel pumps.
- Demonstrate the ability to make sound quality decisions independently.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Good knowledge and understanding of gelcoat processes as they relate to Cobalt product and customer expectations.
- Ability to understand and execute top quality expectations.
- Ability to stand and work in and around boats/molds throughout the entire day.
- Work efficiently and safely, following all safety regulations at all times.
- Ability to read and understand uses of a mil gauge.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, and to effectively communicate with management and subordinates.
- General math skills required.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Physical Demands
- Stands: 8 hours (Continuous)
- Walks: 2 hours (Frequent)
- Lifts and/or Carries: Frequently up to 30 lbs, Occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Simple Grasping: Right and Left hands (Constant)

Work Environment
- Exposure to heat/cold, dust/dampness, height, chemicals, and noise.
- Safety glasses must be worn at all times.
- Respirator protection required.
- Tyvek covering required.
- Chemical resistant gloves required when handling chemicals.
- Annual Pulmonary Function Testing – Medical Clearance to wear a Respirator.
- Annual Fit Testing – Testing of the Respirator to ensure it fits safely and securely.
Schedule
Typical 10-hour workdays, frequent overtime required.
