Coaching Manager, Alpha - $200,000/year USD

Management$200k/yrFull-time

Great leaders understand that success is not defined by personal accomplishments. It's defined by the achievements of those they lead. If you have a track record of building high-performing teams, elevating individuals beyond their perceived limits, and flourishing in settings where excellence is non-negotiable, this opportunity allows you to deploy those capabilities in a role that will influence the next generation.

At Alpha, students do not sit through lectures. They progress through academics using adaptive technology while Guides provide coaching, accountability, motivation, and life skills instruction. As a Lead Guide, your mission is to develop the team that powers this model—coaching Guides, cultivating leaders, and fostering an environment where students routinely surpass expectations. This is neither an instructional coaching position nor a traditional teaching role. You will not review lesson plans or observe lectures—because they do not exist. Instead, your focus will be building a culture of excellence through Guide coaching, delivering impactful life skills workshops, and inspiring students to pursue ambitious goals. Your effectiveness will be assessed by student experience quality, team performance, and your capacity to uphold rigorous standards while motivating others to meet them.

Alpha is creating the world's premier K-12 experience. This requires leaders who have already demonstrated the ability to elevate others' performance, make objective decisions grounded in data, and embrace transformative ideas rather than defend outdated conventions. If that reflects your experience, we would welcome the opportunity to connect.

This position is presently available at select Alpha campuses: Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Miami, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Boston, MA; Raleigh, NC; New York City, NY; Orange County, CA; and Santa Barbara, CA. If you are based in one of these areas—or willing to relocate—we encourage you to reach out. Exceptional candidates from other locations are also invited to apply. As Alpha expands, we frequently align outstanding leaders with opportunities throughout our growing campus network.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Coaching Guides to reliably deliver outstanding student experiences while upholding Alpha's rigorous standards.
  • Facilitating dynamic life skills workshops that build communication, leadership, focus, and other essential real-world competencies for K-12 students.
  • Inspiring students to pursue ambitious learning objectives and optimize progress within their self-directed academic programs.
  • Leveraging data, observation, and coaching dialogues to enhance Guide performance and student results.
  • Supporting the launch and establishment of new Alpha campuses by cultivating a culture rooted in excellence, accountability, and ongoing improvement.

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering traditional academic classes or subject-matter lectures.
  • Creating lesson plans or designing curriculum materials.
  • Compromising standards to provide students with superficial success rather than guiding them toward genuine mastery.
  • Leading a team from an administrative distance without direct, hands-on coaching of students and Guides.
  • Defending outdated methods simply because "that's the way things have always been done."

Responsibilities

  • Guarantee that every student consistently experiences Alpha's three promises by developing high-performing Guides, facilitating compelling life skills sessions, and upholding uncompromising expectations for student achievement.

  • Verified success utilizing data to drive performance enhancements.
  • Experience working with children ages 5-14 in an educational, coaching, or developmental context.
  • Experience establishing or launching a new team, program, business, school, or initiative, with readiness to support opening a new campus from the ground up.
