About the Role
The East Side Union High School District (ESUHSD) seeks a skilled and passionate Technical Theater Coach with expertise in lighting, sound, set design, fight coordination, intimacy coaching, and costume design to support in-class instruction during the regular school day. Throughout the school year, the coach will work alongside credentialed theater teachers at district high schools, supporting all theatrical students in developing technical theater skills. This role includes lesson planning, instruction, and performance support at one or more school sites, contributing to high-quality technical theater education for a diverse student body.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Drama Director to align with the overall goals of the course.
- Guide students through the creative process of designing lighting, sound, sets, and costumes.
- Mentor and support students in developing their artistic skills through theatrical productions.
- Assist the school site's theater teacher in maintaining and performing minor repairs on theater equipment.
- Foster student creativity, discipline, and teamwork in a culturally responsive and inclusive environment.
Requirements
- Experience with technical aspects of theater, including but not limited to lighting, sound, set design, fight coordination, intimacy training, and costume design.
- Experience supervising volunteers, interns, or students is preferred.
- Experience working with other theater personnel and outside clients.
- Must pass fingerprint clearance and provide current TB test results prior to employment.
