About the role

Promote sportsmanship and foster good character in student-athletes. Provide for the safety and welfare of all participants. Supervise students in practice areas, locker rooms, busses, and at all times during the season. Exercise patience, tolerance, and diplomacy in relations with all players, parents, co-workers, contest officials, and spectators. Interscholastic activities are an extension of the classroom and as such, your actions, behavior, and interactions with our student-athletes should be reflective of this.

Responsibilities

  • Promote sportsmanship and foster good character in student-athletes.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of all participants.
  • Supervise students in practice areas, locker rooms, buses, and at all times during the season.
  • Exercise patience, tolerance, and diplomacy in relations with players, parents, co-workers, contest officials, and spectators.
  • Treat interscholastic activities as an extension of the classroom, reflecting appropriate behavior and interactions.

Requirements

  • NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching certificate (at employee's expense)
  • NFHS Concussion certificate
  • ATC Student-Athlete Health & Wellness certificate (must review PowerPoint and sign a document affirming review)
  • Act on Facts Suicide Prevention Training OR NFHS Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention certificate
  • Current CPR w/AED (online classes not accepted; EMT license supersedes)
  • Current First Aid (online classes not accepted; EMT license supersedes)
  • Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Must be available to work on Saturdays as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization (required prior to start date).
  • Bloodborne pathogen training after hire by TUSD Risk Management Department (required prior to start date).

Benefits

This position is temporary and not eligible for district benefits.

Pay

Stipend to be prorated for days missed in the sports season due to late starts or early terminations.

Schedule

Effective: 2026-2027 school year. Location: Drachman Montessori K-8 Magnet- 22nd St. & 10th Ave. Area. Season dates: August 17, 2026 to November 7, 2026 (first season – August into November).
