Coach - MS Cross Country (Effective 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR)

About the role

Promote sportsmanship and foster good character in student-athletes. Provide for the safety and welfare of all participants.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in practice areas, locker rooms, busses, and at all times during the season.
• Exercise patience, tolerance, and diplomacy in relations with all players, parents, co-workers, contest officials, and spectators.
• Interscholastic activities are an extension of the classroom and as such, your actions, behavior, and interactions with our student-athletes should be reflective of this.

Requirements

• Minimum Requirements:
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching certificate (at employee's expense)
• Concussion in Sports Course
• Student-Athlete Health & Wellness certificate (must review PowerPoint and sign a document affirming PowerPoint has been reviewed)
• Act on Facts Suicide Prevention Training OR NFHS Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention certificate
• Current CPR w/AED
• Current First Aid
• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Available to work on Saturdays as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have prior experience working with youth.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must have a strong understanding of NFHS rules and regulations.

Skills

• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.
• Knowledge of first aid and CPR.

Benefits

Stipend to be prorated for days missed in the sports season due to late starts or early terminations. This position is temporary and not eligible for district benefits.
