About the role

Responsibilities

• Complete an engineering project aligned with Schaeffler’s current R&D initiatives within the Engine or Chassis departments
• Collaborate daily with the engineering team on innovative and technically challenging projects
• Support hardware architecture design, including component sizing and selection
• Contribute to development and/or validation of complex mechatronic systems (e.g., selection of microprocessors, sensors, actuators, DAQ devices, signal processing circuits for HiL test environments)
• Perform data analysis to support system characterization/modeling, continuous improvement, calibration, triage, and validation activities
• Develop algorithms (architect, design, implement, validate, parameterize) to enable intended system function in coordination with stakeholder and application requirements
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to complete assigned tasks
• Work independently, follow instructions, and embrace developmental opportunities through projects, job rotation, hands-on training, and exposure to Schaeffler’s technological processes

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher per semester
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent written and verbal communication ability
• Extremely self-motivated and driven to achieve results
• Assertive approach to solving problems
• Ability to prioritize tasks
• Ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods and lift/move up to thirty pounds
• Participation in an SAE collegiate competition team (Formula, Baja, etc.) preferred
• 3D CAD modeling and software experience preferred
• Mechanical hobbyist background preferred
