Schaeffler’s Cooperative Education Program provides students with outstanding practical experience tailored to their interests and career aspirations. The goal is to expose emerging talent to manufacturing and technology development processes, build industry knowledge and skills, and prepare students for a transition to a full-time position at Schaeffler. Students work with talented professionals and cutting-edge technology to drive innovation in motion technology.

Responsibilities

  • Complete an engineering project aligned with Schaeffler’s current R&D initiatives within the Engine or Chassis departments
  • Collaborate daily with the engineering team on innovative and technically challenging projects
  • Support hardware architecture design, including component sizing and selection
  • Contribute to development and/or validation of complex mechatronic systems (e.g., selection of micro-processors, sensors, actuators, DAQ devices, signal processing circuits for HiL test environments)
  • Perform data analysis to support system characterization/modeling, continuous improvement efforts, calibration, triage, and validation activities
  • Develop algorithms (architect, design, implement, validate, and parameterize) to enable intended system function in coordination with stakeholder and application requirements
  • Interface with cross-functional teams to effectively complete assigned tasks
  • Work independently, follow instructions, and embrace developmental opportunities through projects, job rotation, hands-on training, and exposure to Schaeffler’s technological processes

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher per semester
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication ability
  • Extremely self-motivated and driven to achieve results
  • Assertive approach to solving problems
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods and lift and move up to thirty pounds
  • SAE collegiate competition team (Formula, Baja, etc.) participation preferred
  • 3D CAD modeling and software experience preferred
  • Mechanical hobbyist background preferred
