About the role
Schaeffler’s Cooperative Education Program provides students with outstanding practical experience tailored to their interests and career aspirations. The goal is to expose emerging talent to manufacturing and technology development processes, build industry knowledge and skills, and prepare students for a full-time position at Schaeffler. Students work with professionals and cutting-edge technology to drive innovation in motion technology.
Responsibilities
- Support design tasks including calculation, simulation, CAD modeling, analysis, and component sizing
- Perform component or system level mechanical testing
- Conduct component teardown analysis including physical teardown, inspection, pictures, and documentation
- Interface with cross-functional teams to complete assigned tasks
- Work independently, follow instructions, and take on developmental tasks such as projects, job rotation, hands-on training, and exposure to Schaeffler’s technological processes
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA per semester
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly self-motivated and driven to achieve results
- Assertive problem-solving approach
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods and lift/move up to 30 pounds
- Participation in SAE collegiate competition teams (e.g., Formula, Baja) preferred
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and related software preferred
- Mechanical hobbyist background preferred
