About the role

MSA Safety is a purpose-driven company committed to deploying innovation and technology to deliver on our Mission to help protect people and assets all around the world. We are looking for a passionate, motivated individual to contribute to new product development in our Fire Service, Respiratory Protection, Fall Protection, Head Protection, or Textiles (e.g., firefighter turnout gear) divisions.

Responsibilities

  • Work as an individual contributor on teams developing new products.
  • Hands-on experience with testing and lab equipment.
  • Provide support and develop improvement ideas for existing products and processes.
  • Drafting, designing, and prototyping products.
  • Collaborate with international associates and external suppliers to complete project goals.
  • Gain awareness of budgetary, manufacturing, and sourcing limitations.

Requirements

  • Fundamental mechanical engineering knowledge.
  • Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use software tools to record, analyze, and document test data.
  • Ability to multi-task and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Hands-on technical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and presentation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Qualifications

Actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering at an ABET-accredited school and have completed at least one semester of Sophomore year.

  • Proficient with CAD tools (SolidWorks or similar).
  • Experience with FEA tools (Ansys, LS-DYNA, or similar).
  • Testing experience (design, execution, and analysis).
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools (Minitab or similar).
  • Experience with rapid prototyping methods.
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing methods.
