About the role
To assure the effective and profitable operation of the assigned retail store, including the development of all team members. Actively pursue self-development and proficiency in the skills necessary to advance to a senior co-manager position.
Responsibilities
- Assist the store manager in implementing a sales-building culture through execution of company merchandising programs, weekly sales plans, and sales themes, while ensuring in-stock conditions and participating in weekly sales meetings.
- Ensure high levels of guest satisfaction, courtesy, and service, with a focus on front-end fast service.
- Achieve budgeted financial results in assigned areas and assist in achieving total store results.
- Protect company assets, including merchandise, cash, facilities, and equipment.
- Conduct weekly manager audits on front-end, DSD receiving, and pricing.
- Assist in shrink management, targeting grocery inventory shrink results of 0.40% of sales or less.
- Control store variable expenses, including achieving budgeted wage percent.
- Assist in staffing, including forecasting needs, recruitment, training, and building a talent bench for future growth.
- Set clear performance expectations, hold direct reports accountable, and conduct ongoing and annual performance reviews.
- Maintain constant awareness of store conditions through frequent and detailed store walks.
- Train and develop the store management team, particularly department managers, to build a strong leadership bench.
- Ensure sanitation and food safety standards are maintained (measured through internal and external audits).
- Foster positive store morale through effective leadership, recognition, and a guest-focused, sales-driven culture.
- Facilitate effective communication with the Store Manager, Field Merchandisers, and store team members.
- Ensure compliance with company standards (measured by ALI audits), as well as all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain a safe facility for guests and team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and skills.
- 1–2 years of supermarket management experience.
