About the role

Step into a high-impact CNO seat at an inpatient rehab hospital in the Cincinnati metro. You’ll partner with a tenured senior leadership team and own nursing quality in a contained span of control (10 direct reports). The role includes opportunity to strengthen the night-supervisor bench and lead nursing through a Joint Commission survey window this fall.

Pay

$135,000 – $150,000 per year

A premier inpatient rehabilitation hospital focused on interdisciplinary, outcomes-driven care that helps patients regain independence after stroke, brain injury, orthopedic procedures, and other complex conditions. The hospital operates 40 beds with a budgeted ADC of 35 and is supported by a tenured senior leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the hospital’s nursing executive and a member of the senior leadership team, accountable for nursing practice, quality, staffing, and patient outcomes
  • Collaborate with medical, clinical, and therapy disciplines to sustain a patient-focused, team-oriented culture and strong functional outcomes
  • Develop and maintain patient-care programs, policies, and procedures that define how nursing needs are assessed, evaluated, and met
  • Represent nursing on Governing Body, Quality Council, Medical Executive, Infection Control, Education, and Ethics committees
  • Implement Joint Commission, CMS, state, rehabilitation nursing, and hospital standards; prepare the department for the upcoming survey window
  • Staff to an acuity-based matrix targeting 1:7–8 nurse-to-patient ratios and budgeted NHPPD
  • Provide 24-hour accountability for nursing operations, including FTE management, budget oversight, policy/procedure ownership, and progressive discipline
  • Lead and develop 10 direct reports, including 1 Nurse Manager, 4 Nurse Supervisors (2 days / 2 nights), Infection Control, Educator, Respiratory Therapy, Dialysis Manager, and Wound Care
  • Recruit, coach, and retain nursing leadership, with particular opportunity on nights
  • Use quality, staffing, and clinical data to prevent complications, manage illness, and improve wellness and discharge readiness
  • Foster an inclusive, accountable culture and celebrate staff and patient achievements

Requirements

  • Current RN license (Ohio license or eligibility to obtain)
  • BSN and Master’s degree required
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred
  • Commitment to obtain CRRN within one year of meeting eligibility
  • 5 years of experience in an inpatient hospital setting
  • 2 years of recent (within last 5 years) nursing management with 24-hour accountability, FTE management, policy/procedure and budgetary oversight, and disciplinary action
  • Director-level or above preferred; Nurse Manager candidates considered only if coming from a complex unit
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through regulatory survey and quality improvement
