About the role

Emerson is seeking a CNC Set-Up Operator to join our 2nd shift team in Sandusky. In this position, you’ll set up and operate CNC and conventional equipment to produce high-quality components while ensuring efficiency, safety, and adherence to production standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation.
  • Manufacture sufficient quantities of quality products at or below budgeted production costs to meet demand.
  • Follow established procedures for operating conventional and/or CNC manufacturing equipment for tasks such as cutting, punching, forming, drilling, tapping, turning, milling, and stamping to fabricate, form, or shape parts from raw materials.
  • Select and measure raw materials and parts to specifications to prepare for production processing.
  • Resolve production, machinery, and processing issues.
  • Test and calibrate components and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications.
  • Report malfunctions or abnormalities and make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment.
  • Observe established safe working and housekeeping procedures; promptly correct or notify supervisor of any hazardous situations.
  • Perform supplemental duties, responsibilities, or non-essential requirements as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or 2 years of experience required.
  • Between 1–3 years of CNC set-up experience or demonstrated proficiency.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to produce a quality part at a productive rate.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to utilize mechanical/manufacturing standards of practice for both manufacturing and assembly of components to obtain a defect-free part for shipment to customers.
