** CNC Programmer/Setup/Operator II - 2nd Shift

Full-time position focused on creating CNC programs using CAM software, producing setup sheets, and communicating with setup operators and machinists. This role functions as a lead position rather than direct labor.
Responsibilities
- Write and modify CNC programs for 4 to 8 axis machines to machine parts per print/drawing.
- Review drawings, blueprints, sketches, manuals, or sample parts to determine sequence of operations and setup requirements.
- Analyze, install, test, and review programs to increase operating efficiency.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
- Check machine functionality and performance.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angles.
- Input or retrieve the correct program code from the machine and network.
- Perform first piece inspections and in-process quality control checks using tools such as micrometers, calipers, depth gages, go no-go gages, and comparators.
- Change tooling and offsets to ensure product meets tolerances and specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment.
- Complete required paperwork including routing sheets and time sheets.
- Confer with supervision, area leaders, programmers, engineers, or others to resolve machining or assembly issues.
- Monitor assigned operators to ensure parts are produced correctly.
- Mentor other CNC personnel.
- Maintain acceptable levels of production according to established standards.
- Practice good housekeeping and safety procedures; adhere to all company policies.
Requirements
- Knowledge of SolidWorks 3D modeling software.
- Knowledge of SolidCAM is a plus.
- Experienced and skilled machinist able to take a job from print to finished part.
- Knowledge of various types of CNC Lathes including 3 and 4 axis machines.
- Ability to work as part of a team on different stages of projects.
- Good communication and computer skills, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Understand M & G codes and how they are used to command the machine.
- Ability to use CAM software to program CNC machines.
- Ability to interpret drawings, blueprints, and written/verbal instructions with limited supervision to setup and operate CNC equipment.
- Ability to verify parts using quality measuring devices.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, lean, and reach.
- Ability to run manual equipment.
Work Environment
The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
