CNC Programmer, NX CAM (Starlink)

About the role

This CNC Programmer role at SpaceX supports Starlink Product with a focus on tool/die applications. The position involves close collaboration with machinists, leads, engineering teams, and machining operations management to enhance productivity and optimize machining programs and procedures. The ideal candidate will be proficient in complex surfacing, contours, and graphite electrode programming.

Responsibilities

• Use NX CAD/CAM/CAE software to program CNC parts.
• Verify NC files with Vericut and maintain revision control for programs and setup sheets.
• Apply knowledge of carbide tools to adjust speed and feed parameters for maximum tool life.
• Suggest drawing changes to improve manufacturability.
• Machine fixture tooling as directed by process sheets.
• Perform machine setup and operation.
• Meet productivity and production goals.
• Ensure continuous product movement and alert management when production is inhibited.
• Provide ideas for process improvements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 3+ years of CNC programming experience in NX.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted.
• Physical demands include lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible for U.S. Department of State authorizations (ITAR requirements).

Preferred Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of CNC programming experience in NX.
• Experience with graphite electrode programming.
• Experience programming and operating multi-axis mill and lathe CNC machines.
• Experience with tool & die applications involving complex surfacing and contours.

Schedule

• Ability to work either 1st or 2nd shifts, including overtime and weekends as needed.
• Estimated shift times:
  • 1st shift: 7:00 am – 5:30 pm
  • 2nd shift: 3:30 pm – 2:00 am (2nd shift hires will onboard and occasionally meet on 1st shift).
