Job Summary

The CNC Programmer / Machinist is responsible for programming, setup and running of CNC mills and lathes to meet company production goals. This role requires knowledge of CNC machines, CAD & CAM programming, tools, dies and fixtures. This role requires the ability to understand machining and programming code in order to comprehend what the program is going to achieve.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Has broad knowledge of machining techniques and operations and can design & create complex fixtures.
  • Programs multi-turret and multi-spindle machining and turning centers using macros to reduce cycle time.
  • Optimize machine operations.
  • Performs typical machine shop operations to support machining floor.
  • Identify and report defective parts, materials or questionable conditions to manager.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and safe manner.
  • Follow company safety procedures and embrace a culture of safety within the machine shop and the organization as a whole.
  • Participate as a team member and working to continually improve all aspects of our business.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years’ experience as a CNC Programmer/Machinist
  • Knowledge and ability to use gauges, calipers and other measuring tools.
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet production goals.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Working Conditions: Work is performed in a manufacturing facility, with CNC & manual machines tools, drill presses, metal cutting, and other industrial equipment. The employee is regularly exposed to vibrations. Noise levels fluctuate from moderate to high requiring ear protection.
  • Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to: Stand, sit, walk and reach for long periods of time. Repetitive hand and wrist motions while handling large and small parts. Constantly and repetitively assemble products, use of light machinery. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, reach above and below desk level, talk, hear and communicate accurate information. Observe details at a close range. Moves items and products weighing up to 30 pounds across short distances. Easily move from place to place in a manufacturing facility. Adhere to all safety & quality requirements.
