About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support both new and existing production in a fast-paced machine shop environment. This hands-on role is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC mill programs while partnering with production teams to improve machining processes, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high-quality parts are produced efficiently. The ideal candidate has strong CNC programming experience, enjoys collaborating with machinists, and is focused on continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Create CNC mill programs from engineering drawings, work instructions, and part specifications.
- Design and program fixtures in collaboration with the manufacturing team.
- Modify and optimize existing CNC programs to improve cycle times, tooling efficiency, and part quality.
- Provide technical programming support to production personnel and assist with machine setup as needed.
- Troubleshoot machining and process issues alongside manufacturing leadership and lead machinists.
- Develop and maintain tool lists, setup sheets, and CNC program documentation.
- Review upcoming production jobs to ensure programs, tooling, and documentation are production-ready.
- Participate in process planning for new parts, including machining strategies, tooling selection, and workholding solutions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and manufacturing efficiency.
- Ensure all programming and machining processes meet quality and production standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of CNC mill programming experience.
- Experience with Fusion 360 is preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, including speeds and feeds, tooling selection, and workholding.
- Experience machining a variety of materials including plastics, stainless steel, 6000 and 7000 series aluminum, and nickel-based alloys.
- Experience with 4-axis and 5-axis machining.
- Familiarity with Okuma controls is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
