About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Programmer/Setup Machinist with strong Mastercam programming skills to support precision machining operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience programming, setting up, and operating Doosan, Haas, and Takisawa CNC lathes equipped with Fanuc controls. This role requires the ability to work independently from prints, optimize machining processes, and ensure high-quality production standards. Candidates with proven experience programming and running Y-axis sub-spindle lathes are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC lathe programs using Mastercam for turning and multi-axis machining operations.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, technical specifications, and GD&T requirements.
  • Set up and operate Doosan, Haas, and Takisawa CNC lathes with Fanuc controls.
  • Program and run Y-axis sub-spindle operations with multi-tasking capabilities.
  • Perform first-part inspections and in-process quality checks using CMM and precision measuring instruments.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters (feeds, speeds, toolpaths).
  • Generate setup sheets, tool lists, and machining documentation to support production.
  • Perform first-article prove-out, program verification, and on-machine troubleshooting.
  • Optimize cycle times and improve process efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance.
  • Work independently from prints and models with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of CNC lathe programming and setup experience in a precision machining environment.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Mastercam for lathe programming (turning, C-axis, Y-axis, sub-spindle).
  • Hands-on experience with Doosan, Haas, and/or Takisawa CNC lathes.
  • Strong knowledge of Fanuc control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering prints and GD&T.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMM, etc.).
  • Proven track record of producing high-precision, tight-tolerance parts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
