CNC Programmer
Position Summary
Responsible for working closely with manufacturing planners, engineers, and CNC shop personnel to produce reliable CNC manufacturing processes that meet customer requirements. This position plays a critical role in developing precision aerospace components by utilizing advanced CAD/CAM programming techniques, multi-axis machining expertise, and continuous improvement practices. The CNC Programmer will work on challenging aerospace manufacturing projects that require precision, problem-solving, and collaboration across multiple teams. The work performed in this role directly contributes to the production of components that support the aerospace industry and help make aircraft safe and reliable. This position provides an opportunity for an experienced CNC programmer to apply their technical expertise, improve manufacturing processes, solve complex machining challenges, and make a meaningful impact on production quality, efficiency, and customer success. This role is primarily office-based while maintaining close interaction with CNC shop personnel, manufacturing planners, and other departments. Our facilities are climate-controlled with air conditioning to provide a comfortable working environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Designs and creates NC programs for extrusion products, large block HOGOUT products, forging and/or casting products, forging and/or casting related tooling, and assembly-related tooling.
- Designs and creates NC programs for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis milling customer products.
- Displays expertise in 4-axis horizontal mill machining programming and 5-axis mill machining programming with great efficiency.
- Plans details of CNC-related operations and develops reliable machining processes.
- Works closely with manufacturing planners, engineers, and CNC shop personnel to ensure processes meet customer requirements.
- Validates NC programs prior to production use by using verification software.
- Approves and places NC programs and setup information on the machine server for shop use.
- Performs troubleshooting on CNC programming-related problems.
- Participates in troubleshooting production-related problems.
- Maintains master files of programming and related documentation.
- Optimizes feed rates and spindle RPM to improve cost-effectiveness, quality, and machining efficiency.
- Integrates improved and/or new cutting tool technology.
- Participates in the improvement process by utilizing Lean Manufacturing methods.
- Suggests feasible solutions for future overall process improvements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of eight years of full-time CAD/CAM programming experience.
- Strong aerospace precision metalworking background.
- Experience supporting complex and fast-paced programming schedules while maintaining high levels of NC programming accuracy and efficiency.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes and manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of G-code programming.
- Experience operating portable measuring equipment.
- Thorough understanding of machining processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate with multiple teams.
- Able to identify process improvements and implement effective solutions.
