As a CNC Machinist (Router) at our Statham, GA facility, you’ll help produce high-quality machined parts for custom-designed packaging machines, contributing to innovative product handling systems for food and bakery manufacturers.

About the Role

Benchmark, a ProMach brand, designs and manufactures high-performance, low-maintenance product handling systems, including distribution systems, automatic cartoner infeeds, shuttle and disk feeders, stackers, mergers, tray loaders, slug loaders, and intermittent motion horizontal form fill seal pouch packaging systems. As part of the ProMach Product Handling business line, you’ll play a key role in helping packaging customers protect and grow their consumer trust.

This is a first-shift position reporting to the machine shop supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering prints, manufacturing manuals, and both verbal and written instructions to plan machine set-up, including spindle speeds, tool feed rates, work holding methods, and operational sequencing.
  • Produce high-quality machined parts for custom-designed packaging machines.
  • Strictly follow all job safety requirements and procedures, including machine guarding, forklift truck and hoist operation, and housekeeping.
  • Identify and select the proper material from raw material inventory for each job order; may require cutting raw material from larger pieces as needed.
  • Deburr all necessary parts after machining to meet required specifications and tolerances.
  • Measure and inspect parts for quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Occasionally work overtime and weekends as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to operate CNC machinery, including routers.
  • Experience working with metal and plastics, and proficiency with calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools.
  • Familiarity with operating drill presses and saws.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed blueprint drawings and engineering documents.
  • Ability to read and follow safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions, with punctuality and dependability.
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed.
  • Valid driver’s license for occasional part pick-up and delivery.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Proficiency in basic math, including working with and converting between fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to perform essential physical tasks, including bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting.
