CNC Machine Operator
About the role
The CNC/Router Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and tending to the computerized woodworking machine (CNC Router). Responsibilities include starting the router, adjusting controls, making trial cuts, determining product specifications and materials, feeding doors into the CNC machine, producing desired routing, adjusting CNC machine tables or cutting devices, setting controls, ensuring proper accuracy, inspecting and marking completed work pieces, verifying quality, and managing inventory.
Responsibilities
- Starts the router and adjusts controls to ensure proper accuracy.
- Determines product specifications and materials, and works with precision and attention to details.
- Fed doors into CNC machine to produce desired routing and adjust CNC machine tables or cutting devices.
- Monitors operation of the CNC machine and adjusts to correct problems and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Inspects and marks completed work pieces and stacks them on pallets for movement to the next workstation.
- Verifies quality of all completed products and monitors production.
- Uses Masterpack data entry (scrap, reloads, production).
- Handles material handling tasks: staging product into CNC loader based on WIP schedule, wrapping, labeling, and staging all completed product; removing and disposing of cutout debris from machinery.
Qualifications
- Mechanically inclined with good math and measurement skills.
- Reads and writes English.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Good attendance and safety records.
- Strong teamwork abilities.
- High attention to detail.
- Regular, full-time employee with at least 6 months in current position.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing.
- Frequent repetitive motions.
- Manual sliding and flipping of cores.
- Reaching with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; and up to 80 lbs with assistance.
- Bending, twisting, stooping, walking, pulling, reaching, and ability to work at a fast pace.
- Handling multiple parts and standing throughout the shift.
- Working in a facility with high forklift traffic.
- Intense and high level of concentration for product quality and productivity.
- Strong eye/hand coordination.
- Ability to work in a mildly controlled environment with exposure to cold and heat during extreme weather conditions, and significant amounts of dust.
- Good attendance and ability to work overtime and weekends when required.
