CNC Lathe Operator- 2nd Shift

About the role

2nd Shift (3:30pm to Midnight) CNC Lathe position. Setup and prove out of programs to safely and accurately machine complex parts to print specifications. This role is part of a collective bargaining union; membership in the local unit is required upon hire. Initial training will be on first shift until fully qualified.

You will operate high-precision equipment to produce complex components, meeting customer requirements and production deadlines. The role reports directly to the Production Supervisor and focuses on delivering critical parts for the Large Motor product line.

Responsibilities

• Safe setup and operation of CNC machines, recording measurements using precision instruments, and producing high-tolerance components
• Prove out new programs for accuracy, efficiency, safety, and quality
• Load and unload tools into machines and enter tool length offsets
• Determine tool wear offsets and interpret engineering drawings
• Make feed and speed adjustments to optimize run times
• Maintain a clean work area and follow all safety and OSHA guidelines
• Conduct daily machine checks to ensure functionality
• Handle materials using cranes and walk-behind trucks
• Record all dimensions of completed parts in labor packets

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of operating and setup experience with CNC lathes and/or mill-turn machines
• Ability to recognize improper machine and tool performance
• Proficiency with G&M code
• Experience using and reading micrometers, depth gauges, and dial indicators
• Knowledge of decimal and metric systems
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• High mechanical aptitude with strong math skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating both CNC milling machines and CNC lathes
• Siemens 840D control experience
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and self-driven

Pay

Base pay rate: $33.76 per hour. Second shift differential: +$1.00 per hour. The actual wage offered may vary based on budget, experience, skills, qualifications, and geographic location.
