About the role
Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the CNC Drill Operator position in the Small Parts Fabrication department. This position works under the direct supervision of the Department Supervisor/Lead person and involves operating upright drill presses, CNC machining centers, saws, radial arm drills, and hand drills.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret production drawings
- Use shop mathematics, including decimals, complex fractions, and simple algebra to lay out various products and determine cutting depths, feed rates, and revolutions per minute
- Operate upright drill presses, CNC machining centers, saws, radial arm drills, and hand drills
- Use measuring instruments such as protractors, framing squares, tape measures, tri-squares, center finders, levers, scribes, calipers, and drill gauges to fabricate products
- Understand material requirements and specifications as stated on blueprints and drawings
- Determine the sequence of setups, operations, and processes within recognized methods and procedures to complete work according to schedules and constraints
- Coordinate with other personnel in the small parts area to maintain workloads and proper sequence of operations
- Maintain housekeeping in the work area and on all machines used
- Perform operator preventive maintenance on equipment and report any breakdowns or damage
- Read and interpret work orders and daily production schedules
- Document work completed on daily shop production labor reports
- Ensure safety and environmental compliance in the assigned area, including proper material handling, crane use, vacuum lift use, cutting torch safety, and eye protection
Requirements
- 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment
- 6 months of experience operating a CNC Drill or similar machine
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure and micrometer
- Ability to read Valmont blueprints
- Ability to walk and stand for up to 100% of the shift
- High awareness for safety at all times

Qualifications (Preferred)
- One year of previous experience operating a forklift
- Ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions

Pay
$26.13 per hour (+$2 per hour shift differential)
Schedule
2nd shift: Monday - Friday, 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
