CNC Burner

About the role

This position is responsible for preparing raw steel and finished product to the correct length and shape according to customer requirements using an Oxyfuel Cutting Table and Sigmanest Program. The candidate will operate and set up conventional or numerical control (CNC) machines to fabricate parts, applying knowledge of shop math, machinability of materials, and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Setup, program-edit, and run cutting tables
• Learn and operate other prep equipment
• Finish product with grinders, sanders, and hand tools
• Perform daily preventive maintenance on assigned equipment
• Read blueprints and use general measuring equipment to produce quality product to specifications
• Safely move material using overhead cranes and forklifts
• Clean and maintain the work area
• Communicate effectively with coworkers and management
• Assist in other manufacturing areas when needed
• Apply knowledge of shop math, machinability of materials, and drawings
• Download programs via disc, flash drive, or direct connect
• Perform cuts and required nesting as defined by production
• Accurately complete production and Quality Control sheets
• Accurately complete work orders based on production schedule
• Read operator’s book and make appropriate parts correctly

Work Conditions

• Environment is that of a heavy industrial work site
• Outdoor elements are a factor
• Exposure to air particles, such as dust, chemicals (paint, oil, gas, diesel fumes), and weld smoke
• Exposure to loud, penetrating noises in some work areas
• Proper personal protective equipment is required at all times, including steel-toed or metatarsal boots, ear plugs/earmuffs, safety glasses, pants, hard hats, and possible respirator use
