About the role

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to residents during the scheduled work period in long-term care. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Delivers age-appropriate care related to physical and psychological needs as per the care plan. As a member of the nursing team, you will follow infection prevention and control policies and use Personal Protective Equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic health care needs and daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and obtaining/recording vital signs.
  • Provide psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents.
  • Assist residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct techniques and equipment; provide range of motion and passive exercises.
  • Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining to create a positive experience; assist with meals, snacks, water, and supplements.
  • Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed.
  • Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information.
  • Communicate resident’s changing condition and care-related concerns to the charge nurse.
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to keep residents' living areas clean and operational.
  • Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs; encourage resident participation.
  • May participate in departmental or organizational committees and task forces.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing required; certification must be obtained within four months if not already certified (training and certification provided by facility).
  • Satisfactorily complete yearly competency testing and maintain continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
  • Maintain all required certifications.
  • When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
  • If required by role, must qualify as a Sanford Category II Driver with a valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle report, and meet medical qualifications per Sanford Driving Policy.

Pay

  • Salary range: $19.00 - $25.50 per hour, depending on experience.
  • $7,500 sign-on bonus.
  • Additional shift differentials for overnights, weekends, or holidays.

Schedule

  • Full-time position with 40 hours per week.
  • Evening shift: 2:15 PM to 10:45 PM.
  • Rotating weekends and holidays.
