About the role
The Nursing Assistant – Associate is the entry point for the Providence Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship Program. The program provides training and support for individuals with no, or very little, direct healthcare experience. The successful applicant is provided an educational program that prepares the Nursing Assistant – Associate for state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Once the Nursing Assistant – Associate is validated on all skills and has completed the education and clinical content of the program, the Nursing Assistant – Associate is advanced to the Nursing Assistant – Journey position. Upon completion of the entire apprenticeship program, and one year in the Nursing Assistant – Journey position, the Nursing Assistant – Journey is advanced to the Nursing Assistant – Senior position.
Responsibilities
- Live within commuting distance from Providence Alaska Medical Center.
- Work 8-12-hour shifts, 36-40 hours a week, which may include day, night, and weekend shifts.
- Participate fully in the 12-week educational period.
- After program completion, work (Three) 12-hour shifts per week, any day/night of the week, including weekends in the Float Pool department.
Requirements
This is an entry level position that will provide the education and experiences necessary to become a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Alaska. No direct healthcare or patient care experience is required.
Qualifications
Within 30 days of hire:
- Hold a National Provider BLS - American Heart Association certification.
