About the role
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a crucial role in the Wound Care Center, supporting both patients and healthcare providers. The CNA coordinates patient care, assists with examinations, and performs various clinical and non-clinical duties.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates patient care before, during, and after visits/examinations
- Assists patients with mobility, transfers, positioning, and applying orthoses/prostheses
- Dresses wounds as directed by the RN
- Absorbs responsibilities in the vein clinic after completing Healogics Vein Clinic training
- Participates in the intake/discharge process, collecting and reporting vital signs, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels
- Takes wound photographs and measurements, tracks treatment responses, and documents care provided
- Reports unusual observations or changes in patient condition
- Collects specimens as requested
- Completes unit tasks such as cleaning exam areas, sterilizing instruments, and other duties as assigned
- Performs HBO therapy duties as needed, following Healogics Hyperbaric training
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Six (6) or more months of experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit
Qualifications
- Competency in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills
- Strong interpersonal, listening, oral, and written communication skills
- Customer service skills and follow-up abilities
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Teamwork and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Skills
- Physical demands: Stationary position for extended periods, viewing computer screens, keying frequently, moving items up to 75 pounds, pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, reaching/grasping/touching with hands, writing
- Work environment: Normal office and patient care environments
- Hazards: Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, toxic chemicals, flammable/explosive gases
