Responsibilities
- Serve as a working supervisor for CNA staff in the field, offering guidance, mentorship, and on-the-spot support.
- Step in to cover open shifts as needed, maintaining continuity and quality of care for clients.
- Monitor CNA performance in the field and provide real-time coaching and feedback.
- Provide hands-on care as directed by the nursing supervisor, including transferring, bathing, grooming, oral care, dressing, toileting, vital signs, and height/weight measurements as needed.
- Avoid assisting with daily living tasks such as feeding, meal preparation, light housekeeping, linen changes, transportation to appointments, outdoor activities, and shopping.
- Act as a resource and point of escalation for CNAs, reporting concerns or care issues to the nursing supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an approved nursing assistant program
- Current, valid CNA certification in good standing
- CPR certification and a negative TB skin test or chest X-ray
- Minimum of 2-3 years of healthcare experience, with at least 1 year in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred
- Valid driver's license with a reliable, insured vehicle
- Flexibility to cover open shifts across the Chicagoland area as needed
- Ability to work independently and lead others with minimal supervision
- Strong empathy, communication skills, professionalism, and teamwork
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect patient information
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, reach, twist, push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs (assistance needs vary by client mobility)
