About the role

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to residents during the scheduled work period in long-term care. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Delivers age-appropriate care related to physical and psychological needs as per the care plan. A member of the nursing team, accountable for following infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic health care needs including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and obtaining and recording vital signs.
  • Provide psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents.
  • Assist residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct techniques and equipment; provide range of motion and passive exercises.
  • Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience; assist with meals, snacks, water, and supplements.
  • Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed.
  • Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information.
  • Communicate residents' changing conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse.
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents in maintaining clean living areas.
  • Assist and document wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation.
  • May participate in departmental or organizational committees and task forces.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or ability to become certified within four months of hire (training and certification provided by facility).
  • Satisfactorily complete yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
  • Maintain all department-specific required certifications.
  • When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
  • For applicable roles, must meet Sanford Category II Driver requirements, including a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle report, and be medically qualified per Sanford Driving Policy.

Schedule

  • Full-time, 32 hours per week (64 hours per bi-weekly pay period).
  • Night shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
  • Every other weekend and rotating holidays.
  • Additional weekend incentive: $1.25 per hour.
  • Additional shift incentive: $1.25 per hour for hours worked from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Pay

  • Salary range: $20.00 – $25.50 per hour.
  • Sign-on bonus: $7,500 (if eligibility requirements are met).
