CNA Caregiver

About the Role

Companion caregivers act as friends who perform safety checks, help prepare meals, pick out clothes, play games, run errands, clean up, and strive to make seniors smile. Personal caregivers go further by assisting with bathing, dressing, brushing teeth, providing medication reminders, and supporting general mobility around the house.

Responsibilities

• Perform safety checks upon arrival
• Help prepare meals
• Pick out clothing for the day
• Engage in games and activities
• Run errands
• Clean up living spaces
• Provide companionship to make seniors smile
• Assist with bathing, dressing, and oral hygiene (personal caregivers)
• Give medication reminders
• Support general mobility within the home

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a background check and TB skin test
• Licensed driver with an insured, reliable automobile (dependable travel to clients’ homes)
• Comfortable providing non‑medical companion and personal care
• Must have a car for transportation

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills
• Genuine desire to help seniors
• Experience caring for a family member
• Full‑time parent or homemaker background
• Previous work in assisted living facilities, skilled nursing, senior homes, or senior centers as a caretaker
• Background as a teacher or child‑care worker (school or preschool setting)
• Retired individuals looking to give back
• Experience working at a YMCA
