Compensation & Schedule

  • Starting Pay: $15-$18/hour based on experience
  • Shift Differential: $2/hour for weekday 2nd shifts
  • Weekend Differential: $3/hour
  • Sign-On Bonus: $2,500
  • Schedule: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents
  • Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
  • Help residents safely transfer and ambulate
  • Take and record vital signs and report changes to the nursing team
  • Answer call lights promptly and provide exceptional customer service
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment
  • Build meaningful relationships with residents and their families every day
  • Identify residents before administering treatments, serving meals, etc.
  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts in an informative, descriptive manner
  • Report all accidents, incidents, and changes in resident condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse
  • Report all complaints and grievances made by residents
  • Participate in and receive the nursing report as instructed
  • Ensure resident rooms are ready for receiving new residents
  • Greet and escort residents to their rooms, introduce to roommates and personnel
  • Inventory and mark resident's personal possessions, store clothing
  • Assist residents with packing for transfers or discharge; transport to new rooms or receiving area
  • Assist with loading/unloading residents to/from vehicles as necessary
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and a calm environment
  • Meet with shift nursing personnel to identify and correct problem areas
  • Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids
  • Make beds and put extra covers on beds as requested
  • Measure and record temperatures, pulses, and respirations (TPRs); weigh and measure residents
  • Check residents who are unable to call for help frequently
  • Assist residents with identifying food arrangements; record food/fluid intake
  • Report changes in eating habits to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse
  • Keep water pitchers clean and filled, within easy reach
  • Perform after meal care (remove trays, clean hands/face/clothing)
  • Assist residents with dental/mouth care, bath functions, combing hair, dressing and undressing
  • Keep residents dry by changing gowns, clothing, and linens when wet or soiled
  • Assist residents in preparing for medical tests (lab work, x-ray, therapy, dental)
  • Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents
  • Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed
  • Assist in preparing residents for physical examinations
  • Observe and report pressure areas, skin breakdowns, and injuries of unknown source
  • Observe disoriented and comatose residents; record and report data
  • Perform special treatments as instructed
  • Notify the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of any resident leaving/missing from the facility
  • Use only equipment you have been trained to use; report defective equipment
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information
  • Report known or suspected unauthorized disclosure of information
  • Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property
  • Honor resident's refusal of treatment requests and report such requests to your supervisor

Requirements

  • Current South Carolina CNA certification
  • Must possess at least a 10th grade education
  • Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • A passion for providing outstanding resident care

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with laws of the state
  • CPR certification preferred

Physical Demands

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Prolonged use of a desktop or laptop computer
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear
  • Frequent use of office related equipment including copier/scanner/fax, telephone, and calculator
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
