CMT Laboratory Technician

About the role

WSP is currently seeking a Construction Materials Testing Lab Technician to support various projects in the Atlanta, GA area.

Responsibilities

• Perform lab classification and index property testing of soils
• Perform density testing of soils
• Sample and test concrete in the field and lab
• Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data
• Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications
• Travel within and around 2 hours of the city
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Must pass drug test, physical, background check and have a satisfactory driving record per company MVR policy
• Ability to travel and work overtime as needed
• Ability to work in variable outside conditions
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related experience on a variety of complex projects preferred
• Certifications might include a combination of ICC soils, ACI concrete, ICC concrete reinforcing steel, and ICC masonry
• Ability to prepare reports and documentation
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol and harassment policies

• Proficient self‑leadership with attention to detail, multi‑tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
• Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to engineering and non‑engineering audiences
