About the role
OptiMIM is a Form Technologies Company utilizing advanced metal injection molding (MIM) technology to produce high-performance, small precision metal components across various volumes. For more information on MIM, visit: https://www.optimim.com/. We are currently seeking an experienced CMM Technician to support our high-volume production needs.
Responsibilities
- Review new product designs and recommend the best measurement processes, including the use of various tools like hand tools, custom fixtures, visual inspection systems, and CMMs.
- Create and qualify measurement processes for new designs, ensuring accuracy, repeatability, and practicality for production environments.
- Conduct new product qualification activities, including First Article Inspection, GR&R studies, and capability studies.
- Support production and Quality Assurance (QA) activities by troubleshooting CMM programs, helping to dispose of problem materials, and continuously improving measurement procedures.
Requirements
- AA degree in a technical field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology) preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Measurement Control Manager (MCC) Technician in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in programming and operating CMMs (e.g., OPG, Zeiss, Mitutoyo) using software such as Zone3, PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar.
- A strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), blueprint reading, and dimensional metrology.
- Experience with gage R&R studies and knowledge of statistical process control (SPC).
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including a bump cap, hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety-toed shoes.
- Experience with molded metal components is a plus.
Qualifications
Employees must be a US Person as defined by ITAR.
Skills
Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), blueprint reading, and dimensional metrology; proficiency in CMM programming and operation; experience with gage R&R studies and SPC; ability to wear PPE; experience with molded metal components.
