Position Summary
The Quality Technician plays a critical role in ensuring product quality and compliance at Omega Plastics. This position involves conducting dimensional layouts, implementing gage R&R studies, developing fixturing concepts, executing capability studies, programming CMM/vision systems, and supporting tool groom activities. Interaction with customers is required, along with providing inspection support for startup, in-process, and final product checks.
Specific Responsibilities
- Communicate and uphold the mission, principles, and vision of Omega Plastics and TriMas.
- Inspect products to ensure they meet all requirements and specifications.
- Conduct dimensional layouts for new and revised parts as per customer needs.
- Inspect startup and final products to confirm conformity to requirements.
- Execute capability studies and gage R&R assessments as required.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to troubleshoot production issues, ensuring timely resolutions.
- Support continuous improvement projects, contributing to quality enhancements and process optimization.
- Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) in all quality control documentation to ensure accuracy and traceability.
- Perform other activities as assigned by the QC Manager, aligning with departmental goals and objectives.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory and customer requirements, particularly for medical clients (e.g., ISO 13485, CFR 21.820).
Essential Functions
- Work performed in a manufacturing environment.
- Frequent mobility to move around a manufacturing environment, able to conduct work at a press and computer.
- Frequently walks, stands, grips/grasps, bends/stoops, crouches, and lifts and carries up to twenty-five (25) lbs.
- This role is required to be on-site 5-6 days at the Clinton Township, MI location.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience with OGP SmartScope and Hexagon PCDMIS is required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in manufacturing is preferred.
- 6-8 years of Quality Control inspection experience.
- Expert-level blueprint reading and GD&T comprehension.
- Level 3 CMM/vision programming skills.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in reading technical drawings and specifications.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Pay
The expected pay range for this position is $35.00-$42.00 an hour. Compensation can vary depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location.
