Full-time, regular position in the Quality department at NxEdge in Morgan Hill.

About the role

Use PC-DMIS software to create CMM programs for complex three-dimensional parts for consistent, accurate, and efficient inspection. Collaborate with programmers, machinists, and engineering teams on manufacturing process development. Work closely with Quality Control Inspectors to prove out new programs, ensuring robust, reliable, and repeatable processes. Create and update detailed work instructions, including text, sketches, and photographs. Troubleshoot, revise, improve, and streamline existing CMM programs. Prepare inspection documentation, including written descriptions of results and deviations from engineering specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean work area adhering to 5S Standards and comply with safety directives.
  • Follow Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and procedures.
  • Perform First Article (FA) inspection to validate product requirements without assistance.
  • Perform or assist with internal QMS audits.
  • Present hardware and documentation for source inspection review to customer and/or government representatives.
  • Assist in training other personnel as required.
  • Read and understand supplier performance data.
  • Perform calibration processes.
  • Inspect complex machined and molded tools, fixtures, and parts using advanced measuring and layout instruments, visual, and mechanical inspection methods.
  • Assist Engineering with special validation requirements (e.g., prototypes, pre-production builds with limited information).
  • Work from written or verbal instructions, detailed engineering drawings, and 3D models.
  • Set up, load programs, and run a programmable CMM.
  • Participate in design reviews on cross-functional teams to ensure conformance to specification, inspect-ability, reliability, safety, and quality system objectives.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong PC-DMIS Level 3 programmer with 7+ years of metrology experience.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify inspection errors and initiate corrective actions.
  • Advanced GD&T interpretation skills.
  • Understanding of quality processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools.
  • Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required PPE (safety glasses, safety shoes, ear plugs, etc.).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends during heavy workloads or to meet customer demands.
  • Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, and chemicals (protective equipment provided).
  • Ability to remain stationary for prolonged periods (standing or sitting).
  • Visual acuity for inspecting parts and reviewing detailed documents/reports.
  • Flexibility to train in other work areas as needed.

Pay

$40.00 - $45.00 per hour, depending on experience.
