CMM Operator I (2nd Shift)

About the role
Operates and programs the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) for inspection of product. Gathers, analyzes, and reports custom written programs to generate inspection data for manufacturing, engineering, and quality. Performs all dimensional layouts using coordinate measuring equipment and prepares layout reports.
Works with clearly defined methods and tasks under close supervision, requiring little or no prior relevant training or work experience.
Responsibilities
- Operates CMM equipment to perform measurement, inspection, and testing of production materials and components using previously prepared inspection programs.
- Mounts or installs tools, attachments, fixtures, or work pieces on CMM.
- Performs in-process or final inspections.
- Documents and reports non-conforming materials as required.
- Reads blueprints and specifications.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required and 0-3 years' experience OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
- Vocational/Technical Training Degree (preferred).
- Machine Operation, Precision Measurement, Reading Blueprints/Diagrams, and Safety knowledge.
Physical Requirements
- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
- May need to stand for long periods of time.
- Work may require exposure to changing climate and/or operating machinery, both inside and outside.
- May be requested to work a different shift.
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
- This position is Safety-Sensitive.
Schedule
4/10-hour shifts, Monday-Thursday with a 10% shift premium.
Travel Requirements
No or very little travel likely.
