About the role
This position is responsible for writing programs for and operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to verify that the configuration of manufacture parts meets the customers requirements. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Review planning, engineering drawings, and digital models to determine proper dimensions and tolerance specifications for specific parts and/or tools to be measured
- Start equipment and select program from the available listings, match part/tool identification with computer program, and perform set up operations
- Position and level part / tool on surface plate of CMM taking care not to damage part / tool or the machine
- Activate digital readout equipment and record specified measurements
- Compare measurements to specified dimensions and tolerances noting discrepancies
- Perform manual dimensional check as needed to verify questionable results
- Document all non-conforming conditions
- Analyze data, prepare, and deliver reports
- Identify and participate in continuous improvement projects
- Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all contacts
- Accept and adapt easily to change

Qualifications
- Experience with recent version of PC DMIS required
- Experience creating CMM programs desired
- Experience operating CMM with DCC controls required
- Familiarity with AS9100
- Proficient reading blueprints, using shop math, and GD&T required
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply customer defined standards and specifications
- Exhibits dependability, including following instructions; responding to supervisors direction; and taking responsibility for own actions
- Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed, and perform work independently without being prompted
- Ability to manage competing priorities, prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, and work within deadlines
- Well-developed presentation preparation and delivery skills
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends and travel as needed (less than 10% of time)
