CMM Inspector III 2nd shift

Eaton’s IS AER ITD division is seeking a CMM Inspector III for the 2nd shift at our Camarillo, CA facility.

About the role

This role is responsible for performing and verifying visual, dimensional, electrical, mechanical, environmental, and chemical inspection functions relating to source, first article, receiving, in-process, final, and test operations using company or customer-supplied drawings, equipment, and/or procedures. You will actively participate in collaboration with high-performance work teams in continuous improvement processes and follow Eaton policies.

Core 2nd shift hours are 2:15 PM – 10:45 PM. This is a direct hire position with Eaton, offering day-one eligibility for benefits.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve inspection/test data.
• Read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and procedures.
• Inspect highly complex, closed-tolerance aerospace precision machined components and/or assemblies visually and dimensionally for conformance to manufacturing drawings, quality control specifications, and supplier/customer requirements.
• Perform cross-training or employee development duties as assigned.
• Review and accept paperwork and documentation used in product acceptance.
• Produce manual or computer-generated inspection reports to accept or reject products.
• Use precision measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, pin gages, thread plugs, thread ring gages, optical comparators, surface plates, spring testers, and CMMs.
• Apply in-depth understanding of geometrical tolerancing and dimensional measurements per ASME Y14.5.
• Perform first article inspection of highly complex, close-tolerance aerospace products with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience.
• Conduct inspections on surface plates using complex inspection layout equipment.
• Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) or demonstrate strong working knowledge of CMM capability.
• Witness and/or perform dimensional inspection on highly complex, closed-tolerance machined components and tooling at suppliers (Source Inspection).
• Maintain inspection records in accordance with company procedures.
• Generate and assist in the corrective/preventive action process.
• Support the Quality Management System and company quality manual to maintain AS9100 compliance.
• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned by leadership.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience in mechanical inspection of highly complex, close-tolerance products.
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the Camarillo, CA facility (no relocation offered).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in hands-on repair and maintenance skills.
• Ability to work in various settings, including plumbing, electrical, and industrial building environments.
• Physical strength and dexterity to lift, move, and handle equipment.
• Construction skills such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and welding.
• Knowledge or experience inspecting materials like aluminum, alloy, titanium, stainless steel, etc.
• Experience inspecting aerospace products with coatings (e.g., anodizing, cadmium plating, chromium plating, nickel plating, zinc plating, passivation).
• College or ASQ (American Society for Quality) certification.
• Experience working in an FAA environment.
• Basic knowledge of DFAR and Nadcap requirements.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position is $23.00 – $26.00, plus a $2.00 shift differential per hour. Salaries are based on candidate skills, experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.
