CMDB Engineer

Location: Des Moines, Iowa (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking a CMDB Engineer to support a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) implementation. This role involves working with a Platform Engineer and receiving guidance from a BMC architect. The position requires a strong understanding of ITIL processes, particularly as they relate to CMDB, Change Management, Incident Management, and Asset Management. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing CI dependencies and performing impact and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Implement a CMDB with Configuration Items (CIs) that have multiple levels of upstream and downstream dependencies.
• Develop and implement coded or codeless customizations using BMC Helix Innovation Studio.
• Utilize BMC Helix for CMDB, Change Management, Incident Management, and Asset Management functions.
• Conduct impact analysis for Change Management by checking upstream links to determine the effects of updates to downstream components.
• Perform root cause analysis for Incident & Problem Management by tracing downstream relationships to identify the source of failures.

Requirements

• Three or more years of experience implementing a CMDB with CIs featuring multiple levels of upstream and downstream relationships.
• Three or more years of experience developing and implementing customizations using BMC Helix Innovation Studio.
• Five or more years of experience as a user of BMC Helix, with a focus on CMDB, Change Management, Incident Management, and Asset Management.

Skills

• Proficiency with BMC Helix platform.
• Understanding of ITIL processes and their application to a CMDB.
