Location: Allouez, Wisconsin | Schedule: Full Time, 32 hours per week
About the role
This position is responsible for pre-visit planning, standard rooming responsibilities, assisting with procedures, discharge instructions, and carrying out both administrative and clinical tasks as directed by a medical provider. This role is instrumental in helping the patient feel at ease while collaborating with the provider throughout the patient's visit.
Responsibilities
- Room patients, perform and document vital signs and patient backgrounds.
- Coordinate provider schedules and appointments, enter orders, and prepare patient charts.
- Instruct patients and families as directed within scope of licensure or certification.
- Prepare patients and assist medical providers with in-office procedures.
- Prepare and administer medications/immunizations.
- Maintain exam rooms and equipment to meet infection control standards.
- Ensure appropriate levels of medical supplies for each patient room.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program or Practical Nursing program.
- Minimum of 160 hours of direct patient care experience as a MA/LPN obtained through professional work experience or completion of student clinical rotations.
- Current clinical experience as a Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse (preferred).
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of principles and skills needed for practical nursing or medical assisting to provide patient care.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster work and patient relationships.
- Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in the use of EMR systems, computers, phones, and office equipment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
