Job Requirements

  • Work full time at 40 hours per week.
  • 0.8 FTE in Urology and 0.2 FTE in Breast Surgery.

Education Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or Practical Nursing program.

Required Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum of 160 hours of direct patient care experience as a MA/LPN.
  • Current clinical experience as a Medical Assistant.

Preferred Experience Qualifications

  • Current clinical experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of principles and skills needed for practical nurse or medical assistant to provide patient care.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Fosters work and patient relationships through excellent interpersonal skills and behaviors.
  • Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy level.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess skills to effectively solve problems.
  • Proficient in the use of EMR systems, computer, phone, and office equipment.

About the Role

This position is responsible for pre-visit planning, standard rooming responsibilities, assisting with procedures, discharge instructions and carries out both administrative and clinical tasks as directed by a medical provider. This position is instrumental in helping the patient feel at ease while collaborating with the provider throughout the patient’s visit.

Responsibilities

Room patients, perform and document vital signs and patient backgrounds.
Coordinate provider schedules and appointment, enter orders and prepare patient charts.
Instruct patients and families as directed within scope of licensure or certification.
Prepare patients and assist medical providers with in-office procedures and prepare and administer medications/immunizations.
Maintain exam rooms and equipment to be within infection control standards. Ensure appropriate levels of medical supplies for each patient room.
